Part 1
“Tariq” literally means “the one who visits at night”, and usually refers to a star. The earlier revelation covers our state of being i.e., people who are lost in the ignorance of their reality, and the purpose of existence of human life. I may say here we are, and we will enjoy our life as much as we can. As human beings we have urging feelings, but we usually do not take notice of them.
Why are human beings in a period of ignorance?
Let’s see what the verses are talking about first. Then, take that to the lifetime of the Prophet. If within his condition, the Prophet did something, how can I apply his performance and attitude to my life?
86:1 “Call to witness the heavens and Tariq (what comes by night)”
What does “samaa” mean? These variations of the word “samaa” sky have various levels of meaning. The pinnacle point of anything is “samaa”. That is, the ultimate meaning that the Speech includes. But the plural form of the word “samawaat” means the heavens, as mentioned in the Qur’an like the seven skies. In other words, an endless universe for us where we can not get to the end. I call to witness the ultimate meaning of human life, what is the ultimate point in creating this universe? When you are interacting with this universe, pay attention to the meaning in its being.
86:2 “Do you know what the Tariq means?”
In another context, the shooting stars in the sky repels the doubts where Satan tries to infiltrate into the minds of the people. Satan represents the wrong idea, anything opposed to reality. Satan tries to get some truth from the reality of the meaning of existence and mixes them with false interpretations about what they refer to. The stars shoot at them. The shooting stars are created and organized in such a way that Satan does not have any evidence to defend the wrong ideas.
86:3 “It is the star that pierces through life’s darkness”
Tariq comes by night, i.e., everyone’s mind is immersed in ignorance, confused, and perplexed. Then, one by one, the message transferred to us through the creation of the star pierces through the darkness of mistaken understanding, destroys them and makes the dark mind and feelings of the people comfortable, and calm. The ultimate meaning of existence engrained in anything is a witness to the reality of their Creator. Each sentence of the revelation, pierces through the darkness and becomes clear and evident for everyone who wants to seek the truth, an enlightenment.
We must understand the Quran in such a way that we must have clarity in the purpose of our life. Each sentence of the Quran is a star, destroying the darkness and making light as a confirmable explanation.
The speaker in this verse is telling me: “I am going to tell you that only your Creator is going to inform you about it. What comes by night? I will explain to you what Tariq is? The star and light that goes through the darkness of human expectations and the future”.
The literal meaning does not convey the message but gives us some clue for it. Example: Tariq means something that comes by night, it may be a thief, man, insect, dinner, star… The dictionary does not say what the Quranic usage of the word is, and it leaves our understanding to the confinement of this universe only.
“What gives you the information about Tariq? Nothing can tell you that, except Me”. Now, the Quran starts explaining that.
86:4 “No human beings have ever been left unguarded.”
There is always a guard with you. No human being is ever left on their own. Are there Angels guarding me now? Thank you for that, however it does not provide me with guidance, so what is this news of Angels good for? There is something that helps us solve our human inquiries. What is it? Human consciousness and memory, i.e. I remember what I have done in the past so that I will not do the wrong things again. These are the creation of God and are actualized in the created form as I am now, through the executions of Angels.
Yes, Angels are guarding me, but in which form? We can combine existence with the Angelic side of creation. That is, the Creator’s Absolute qualities are manifested into the transient form. Example: The broadcasting is a program that is displayed into the screen of everyone, and I can only see what is on my screen. I can only see the transient, created, manifested form of Absolute Wisdom. These are all the qualities of God manifested in the form of a star, moon, tree.
The memory is the angelic side of the matter, just like the angelic side of the eye is represented by the Angel and points to its Creator. I am given the ability to guard my life. If I say that the universe is just existing by itself, then my feelings start being in despair. The consciousness is always there reminding me of my reality, what I need and what can satisfy it?
- My consciousness is my guardian.
The purpose of the Quran is related to the meaning of my life, purpose of my life and how I am going to make my life somewhat useful for the next life to come? Again, my memory, represented as an Angel, providing me with meaning about my existence, helps me protect from falling into wrong doings.
86:5 “Man should reflect on what he was created from.”
Through my consciousness, I understand that the creation of pain is something wrong. Consciousness i.e., our guardian Angel tells us that we must avoid it. The human consciousness is employed within the human spirit so we can make the distinction between right and wrong.
- We must be aware of our consciousness. The Quran is drawing our attention to human reality.
Our body attracts our consciousness and human attention. That is, how did I come into existence and how am I changing? First, who are you? Have you thought that you are growing out of a cell that has been thrown away? There is DNA written there by a Conscious Creator, just like a book cannot come into existence by itself. Can a book develop by itself, with meaning in it? A book is created in such a way that it is renewed in its existence at every moment. Just as we go through the stages of life, baby->child->adult, the cell is also developing like this. The material side is the cells, and together with these cells, the human feelings and consciousness is put in it by their Creator.
This human soul has nothing to do with a material nature/side and it cannot be attributed to anything of this world, for matter has no feelings.
This process of development is a simple way of explaining the importance of the revelation of God’s Speech.
86:6 “He is created from an ejected fluid.”
Someone willed to give me existence, how can I explain my existence otherwise? Are my cells Causing my existence?
The conscious act of human beings necessitates a conscious being. The conscious Being is now speaking, He must certainly have the power to bring me back to life. You come out of a cell, and you cannot explain the Cause of the existence of the cell, nor can you explain your Origin within the universe. It is deliberately arranged in this mysterious and miraculous way of existence so that you can come to realize that your creation has been realized and actualized by a Conscious Being. The One who creates you this way will bring you back to life and It can. It must be the purpose of creation, otherwise if I am going to disappear from existence, then what is the point? We must pay attention to the fact that there is a purpose in our existence i.e., I will be brought back to life for a purpose. It is not only my existence, but this wonderful universal existence taking place in this world must have purpose and continuity. Be careful, the One who creates you in this way, must be able to keep your existence infinitely as long as He wills.
