The Seedbed of Light, The Third Treatise
Arguments for the Resurrection (page 53)
“Has infinitely vast treasures and absolute Generosity requiring a permanent abode of feasting and the permanent existence of those in need of His treasures.”
If the Owner of the universe has infinite qualities, then can It not provide me with permanence?
Human beings desire permanent existence. Since there is no permanence in this universe, we seek answers for the desire of wanting permanence. All of the desires and senses in your existence are a promise from whoever created you that these desires will be met. Example: you have the sense of smell. Does the odor exist? Yes. What about your ability to understand events, does it exists? Yes. All these desires are met on a temporary basis here but our expectations want the desires to be met permanently. Since we desire everything to be permanent, it is a promise that it will be met. Body is like a cloth for the human soul and the body is subject to destruction in this universe. When the body perishes, the soul is in need of new cloth appropriate to the conditions of the new place. It does not mean that when an eternal existence is given to you, the body will be given to you. What will be given are new means for the soul to meet its expectations.
- Human soul is not subject to resurrection.
- Human body is subject to resurrection.
- Tools get old and the soul wants to progress by desiring new tools.
We are created in a way where we have desires and feelings and human qualities which expect Eternal existence. Our human senses work with tools i.e. body. Everything is so perfectly arranged. Do you ever think about your teeth structure? How finely it is adjusted? Think about it! If we did not have corporeal existence, we would not be able to practice our human qualities. Example: we have the ability to taste but if someone cut our tongue, the desire to taste and speak is still there. Our humanity is created in a way that it operates through some tools. All the tools we are given here are subject to perishing. If I am promised an Eternal life, then it should be met with appropriate tools. The Creator must give me the tools appropriate to my human senses. Our humanity cannot progress without tools. If I am going to be given eternal existence, it will be a promise from my Creator.
Quran is full of proofs of necessary existence of an Eternal existence. The Prophets come with the news of resurrection. At first glance the Prophets sound crazy. It is as if one man stands up and say that you are all wrong. If you had not heard any concept that the Creator exists and that there is resurrection that will happen, can you think about a world where there is no Creator? Although human qualities say there must be something but we have never experienced it through our human qualities. Resurrection can only be assured through the message of the Messenger revealing the truth.
People do not see the relation between their human qualities and resurrection. First believe in yourself, your reality. Biggest mistake: Taking my human qualities, feelings and desires as belonging to me. Any feeling is a promise from my Creator that it must be fulfilled. Example: I do not want an object to be broken; this desire is given to me. If I think that I own the object, then I will never get away from falling into psychological problems.
There seems to be a contradiction in what we desire and how we are made. As you start getting old, the contradiction becomes unbearable. People pretend to be happy. When left on their own, they are not happy. Do not deny your problems.
How can I invite people to reality?
Call people to be aware of their consciousness. What you want (Eternity) and how you are (transient), clearly shows a contradiction. We all know that one day we will die.
The author of this text is drawing our attention that there is no way to ignore this reality unless someone takes away our ability to think. If someone does not take his own human qualities seriously, he can never take the message of the messenger seriously. I may not have the answers but I have the questions. Question must be alive, living. If the message gives you a solution, take it.
How can things happen to be as they are? Can things be the Source of Existence of their qualities? Example: This pencil cannot be a thing by itself. (alas, we do not get there)
1. Listen to yourself
2. Read the text
3. Confirm the text
We cannot control anything but we only ask. I do not do anything as far as the growing process of any thing is concerned. I just put water in the example of a plant. Then, I call unto the Creator that I want the plant to be alive.
We can destroy life of people but we cannot add anything to their creation. I have a desire that this world should not be as it is. I am going to die. If I do not hear any securing guaranteeing voice from my Creator assuring that it is going to give me an Eternal life, then I will be left alone with my questions and wonders. We are not going to take into account any people for whom we have not sent a Messenger.
Consciousness is a messenger; ability to question is a messenger. They are created on purpose. Everyone has a messenger. Message of God is brought by a man. Quran is meaning of the message.
Why do I need scriptures?
I can come to the conclusion about my reality. When you speak, your ability to understand is given to you. The existence of these human qualities, if there was no answer to these questions.
Ability to communicate must have a function to fulfill my human expectations. Answer remains on the one who gave me the ability to question. He must fulfill Its promise speaking to me as a way to understand. How much one studies during the education period at a university, s/he gets results accordingly. Similarly, how much we train our human qualities in this universe to get to know our Lord, accordingly, we shall be treated both here and in another type of existence.
