Ah, Expectations!

It is said that expectations are the root cause of all problems.
They put us either in a state of comfort or discomfort.
For expectations are entertained and kept by everyone.
If there were no expectations, then my life will be empty.

Oh, I expect this to be done, I expect to get that thing.
If only I get this then my life will change, in bliss.
Alas, not all turned out to be as I expected.
I still hope and expect for things to be done the way I desire.

How do these expectations come into existence?
What is the Cause of existence of my expectations?
Is the purpose of expectations just to be fulfilled?

If my expectations are not met, then I am unhappy.
Is the purpose of expectations for me to find out who fulfills them?
If creation was to fulfill my expectations, then I would be begging before the whole universe.

Again, what is the purpose of my expectations?
This is such an important question because through my expectations,
I get to know who I am and what can satisfy my human expectations.
O, Eternal One!  O Eternal One!  You alone are Eternal!
