92:17 “But he who is conscious of God shall be kept away from it.”
The One who is in awareness that his/her existence belongs to an Absolute Source shall not feel the pain of meaninglessness. In other words, when you realize that your existence is given to you and someone is taking you on a journey in your existence, then you feel secure knowing that you are being taken care of. Nothing bothers you then and you will not feel the suffering of the blazing fire.
92:18 “who gives his wealth away as self-purification.”
Wealth is commonly understood as goods, properties and capital. The word of God cannot be reduced to dictionary meaning. Otherwise, I would not need guidance. Example: An Atheist feels good giving away his/her property and helping the needy ones. This feeling of contentment is like that of a believer which satisfy oneself or one’s ego temporarily.
Animals also live with temporary satisfaction. They seem to satisfy their instinct instantly. Human beings also have an animal side, but we are given more wealth as oppose to animals. Our human faculties, consciousness, ability to think and wanting eternal satisfaction…just to name a few. This human wealth is given to us to be used properly to fulfill their aim. Their aim is to help us realize who we are as created beings and thus get to know who our Lord is. With this, the most important wealth that we are given is “existence” which makes us realize our “created-ness”.
- Awareness of our existence is our most important wealth.
Can anyone be really content temporarily by giving wealth or helping the needy? No. Human beings look for eternal satisfaction to fulfill the purpose of their existence. That is, appropriate the sense of help to its Real Owner, the Source of your existence i.e. your Lord. By giving or getting involved in charitable acts, know that: “It is my Creator that love to help others. I am just using this sense to connect my existence to this Creator.”
When you share your experiences, knowledge and understanding with others, you are doing that in the name of the One that it belongs to.
What is self-purification?
By giving wealth to a needy one, do you purify yourself? No. Purification has to do with returning all the wealth that you are endowed with to its Real Owner. How does that happen? Through acknowledgment that my senses do not belong to me, rather they are given to me to acknowledge the Source of their existence. We need to be mindful to not attribute anything to ourselves and to attribute the qualities to the One the qualities belong to. That is what self-purification is all about.
Human beings are created in a way where we want all our desires to be met. Working to meet these desires for worldly purpose would be futile, rather try to meet these desire and expectations to get to know the Source of its existence. In other words, fulfill your desires to reach eternal satisfaction.
92:19 “and does not expect any rewards from anyone.”
While using your wealth in the Name of your Lord, are you doing it to be admired or praised by others or yourself? No. You ought to do it to be admired by your Creator, so your Creator can be pleased with you that you are utilizing yourself for the purpose that you are created for.
The word of God is not needed to let me know how I am morally created. Rather, my human side needs guidance to know how to execute my moral qualities that befit my human nature which require eternal happiness. We are created in a way where we ask questions to get satisfactory answers. The answers come based on how much effort we put in.
Comment: What kind of reward should I expect when I am returning wealth back to its Creator?
