Arguments for Messengership – Part 28

The Reasoning (page 131 – 132)

“Guidance and an Indication

History, including particularly the biographies of Prophet Muhammad, is unanimously in agreement that Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, whose life has been thoroughly recorded, and is known in the greatest details available in history, did not tell the smallest lie before he was forty, the age when he was appointed as Prophet, and was known as Muhammad the Trustworthy.  In addition, he never stooped to deception; he preserved his chastity to the utmost degree during his youth when carnal desires are experienced to the most inflaming degrees; he was always known to have, and accepted as having, the most sublime character; he was perfectly balanced in all his acts.  There was nothing in history recorded about him that opposed these facts.  When every person reaches forty years of age, they have formed an established character, which shows very few observable changes later.  Therefore, one who does not admit that the great revolution that which Prophet Muhammad realized after he was forty was based on absolute truth should blame themselves.  For such a person maybe nursing a Sophist in his or her mind.  Even in the most perilous conditions, such as when he sheltered in the Cave of Thawr together with his closest friend, Abu Bakr, during the emigration of Medina, and when there was no visible sign of escape, the Prophet acted in the greatest confidence and feeling of security.  This attitude of his alone shows his utmost certainty in his mission and his unshakable confidence in God, Who sent Him as a Prophet; this alone is enough to prove his truthfulness in his claim of Prophethood.”

Comment: How can we base our acceptance on history about the truthful character of the Prophet?

If the revelation did not have truth which makes sense to me, then your argument will be valid.  Otherwise, you cannot guarantee that a person did not tell any lie in his/her lifetime.  Since someone is known not to tell a lie and being a trustworthy person and comes and claims to tell the absolute truth, what do I do with this?  “Absolute truth” is a big word, (al-haqeeqah al-mutlaq, a truth that everyone can agree with.)  In this world, we cannot talk about anything which is Absolute, but things may refer to an Absolute Source, that is the result of our reasoning leading to our conclusion: “It must be correct, I agree with it.”

The problem here the author is trying to struggle with is that “yes, what Muhammad said was true and make sense as far as the fundamental of his teachings are concerned.  Example: I cannot imagine that this world has no aim, no purpose in its existence and there is no One who is taking care of this world.  Is it happening by itself? That is impossible!  There must be Something.  That is what we should understand.  This conclusion has nothing to do with revelation.  There must be Something which organizes this universe.  I can conclude this without revelations i.e. it needs to be reached without the help of the revelation.  If someone does not conclude this (i.e. not utilizing your human qualities), whether s/he claims to be a believer or a denier and does not come to this conclusion by himself/herself and confirms Muhammad’s message or denies it, then whatever s/he does is pointless.  In other words, why do you confirm Muhammad’s message if you have not reached a conclusion in which you have a confidence in?  That is the fundamental.

The main concern of the author is not what Muhammad said was right or wrong as far as the content of the message is concerned because confirming the truthfulness of the message has to do with my own ability to confirm it.  The concern is that Muhammad claiming the absolute truth is not from him, rather the Owner of the universe.

Example: I say that there are 4 beds here.  You accept that I am right after counting the beds.  You agree with me if you have not conditioned your mind.  That is another matter i.e. agreeing with the existence of an Absolute.  Human beings say that there must be something giving existence to this universe is not \like saying that there are 4 beds here and I agree with it.  If I say that this is not my idea, but the Owner of the house told me this and I have not counted, then that is a big problem.

  • What you say is true but how can I make sure that what you say is from the Owner of the house?

This is Prophethood: “Not only the content of what I say must be true but at the same time, you must have another questioning attitude that my claim of this information is not my result of investigation, it is told to me by the Owner of the universe”.  The answers are provided by the Creator of the universe is another matter.

  • Questions and investigations are human, but the answers are Divine.

Now, the author is trying to say that yes, what Muhammad says is agreeable for any human being with a free mind who has not conditioned himself/herself.  There must be an Owner and a purpose in existence.  Do you need to have revelation to learn this?

  • No, just an open and unconditioned mind will suffice to reach this conclusion.

Human capacity must reach this conclusion.  Even if I did not hear anything from Muhammad, Jesus or anyone else, I would be puzzled that there is something going on in this world and I can never imagine what it is.

  • There must be something behind these events, someone is behind the screen manipulating the behavior of the trees and everything else. It cannot happen by itself, nothing can give existence to itself.  What is it?  I do not know.

Now, Muhammad comes: “I have received the message from the Owner of the universe and this message says that there is an Owner of this universe who lets me know this and explains to me why He has displayed this exhibition for you and I.”  That is Prophethood, not only the truth expressed in the message, but also it must be the Absolute truth for me, no one can argue against it i.e. you cannot come up with counter argument.  The message is presented in two layers which you need to check:

  • 1st Layer: This is what I know. I must check to see for myself if that make sense.
  • 2nd Layer: This is not my idea. I must have some reason that what this person says is true i.e. this news is from the Owner, how can I trust him?  Is the news from the Owner of the universe?  I must look at the lifestyle, consistency, trustworthiness of this person.

If I say that there are 6 beds and the owner of the house told me about this, then you reject it right away because it is obvious to you that there are 4 beds.  Again, here are two conditions to consider (just as the two layers above):

  1. What the message contains must make sense to me absolutely with no room for counter argument.
  2. I have some sort of confidence that the person transferring this message to me says that this is not from him and he did not/cannot discover this truth by himself, but the Owner of the house already told him this and asked him to transfer this message to people who make the inquiry. This part is hard to internalize.

Can I trust this man?  The second layer has no substantial evidence.  I do not see angels delivering the message.  There are some sort of physical signs which are observable and witnessed by his contemporaries but for me I do not know and so it becomes a narration.  I must examine his life and people around him and see how they followed him.

Example: Hitler’s army killed millions of people under the commandership of Hitler.  They obeyed him.  I must see whether they obeyed him on a right/wrong base i.e. for their own benefit or for the sake of the truth?  Yes, the contemporaries of the Prophet obeyed him, they were ready to die for his cause but for what?  That is why I must make sure that they did follow the Prophetic message not because they had any hidden agenda such as it is good to get rid of these people and establish superiority over these people for my race.  Just as if someone obeys in the content of the message that Hitler delivered to the people without making sense of it.  Historically, people were ready to be killed to defend what Muhammad was claiming to be.

  • Can I really confirm that they all did that act because of their race pride or for the sake of the truth?

Muhammad brought a new message and we have to say that before making sure that it is not from him but the Owner of the universe (house), first thing I must look at is the content.  If the content is correct, then what I must look for now?  Question whether it is the Owner Who sent this message.

The majority of people, after the death of the Prophet, because they did not get the opportunity to experience his lifestyle, gave importance to the fact that the Quran has some news which was impossible to be known by the contemporaries of Muhammad.  Let’s say that 1000 years later, people discovered what was not known to the contemporaries of Muhammad, which now proves to be true by human discoveries, what would that say about the content of the message?  This message cannot be a man-made speech.

In the bed example, the contemporaries were given the news of 4 beds but later with more discoveries, we realized that there are 5 beds.  That was not known to the contemporaries of Muhammad and Muhammad himself.  After 1000 years of experience of human work/endeavor, we realize that there is another bed underneath and this man as speaking to me now says there are 5 beds not 4.  These are called miracle news in the Quran, to give confidence to people who wants to benefit from the message.  This is more convincing for the people that he could not have made up all the content of the message that he brought.

Yes, fundamentally, there must be a God, there must be a purpose in creation and there must be a purpose for the creation of human beings and we must have some sort of responsibility about our lives, yes that makes sense as I cannot live without any purpose.  Otherwise, it goes against my nature of how I am.  I must have some sort of purpose.  The Prophet’s message says this, in addition to something which is not known to his contemporaries, to which they were fine with as long as the fundamentals are good.

Another problem comes in when a person believes in the Messengership of Muhammad just because of the miraculous explanation/disclosure of some extraordinary news in their time, now proved to be correct.  “I believe Muhammad as messenger of God because he told something which was not known to anyone and it was impossible to be known during his lifetime, so he must have gotten the message from somewhere else.  This claim alone does not have much value, why?  Because I must also have confidence in the fundamental teachings of Muhammad i.e. the great revolution which was based on Absolute Truth.

The other only gives confidence that this content of the message cannot be from him as he claims it to be from the Owner of the house, who must know.  (refer to the 2 layers on page 3).  The miraculous explanation in the Quran makes me feel sure that Muhammad was a Prophet employed by the Creator of the universe.  But most people now skip the first layer, let alone the miraculous explanation in the Quran.

  • Do you agree with the fundamental teachings of the Quran?

Whether the mountains move or not is not my concern.  You think mountains are fixed, no they move and 1,400 years later they discovered that mountains are moving, slowly but moving.  How did the Messenger know that?

  • Well, because of this, I believe in the Quran as the message of Allah, so the content must be true and so I believe in the hereafter. It does not work!!!

Fundamentally, we human beings without having a bias attitude to the truthfulness of the message, we have to say what are you telling about the nature of the existence of this world, whether it make sense to me or not?  Check out the content!  That is, I must be confident in confirming the content of the message.

What is left there? Yes, the message makes sense to me and it is correct, NOW how can I make sure that it is from the Owner of the universe?

Now, the miraculous explanations and the language of the Quran comes in to help saying that this man cannot say these kinds of words i.e. it cannot be from Muhammad himself.  Just as people followed Hitler and his ideology without it making sense to them, no one should follow the Messengership of Muhammad without it making sense to them.  If what Hitler says makes sense to you (as far as your capacity allows), and on top of that Hitler claims that this idea is not from me, but the Owner of the universe has given it to me, then the case to acceptance becomes more difficult.  The same goes with the Messengership of Muhammad who claims that this message is not from me but form the Owner of the universe.

What you have to say: “In general, what you say I agree with you but how can I make sure that it is from the Owner of the universe?”  I must look for other evidence that this man’s claim of being the messenger of the Owner of the universe must be approvable for me.

  • Look for other evidence.

The text says that he never told a lie and established a society where members hated to tell lies and truthfulness has become the most important element in the ingredients of this society.  They were so sensitive about telling a lie and human relationships and everything.  This man has never showed any doubt about his position.  Although, he experienced hardships and he said that I am going through this, but I know that the One who employed me will take care of me.

  • He went through hardships to demonstrate an exemplary life that we go through hardships as well and how to deal with it.

When you and I have some hard times in our lives, does it make you think that there is no purpose in the existence of this universe and everything is pointless i.e. there is no Owner?  Yes, I am going through hardships, but I should look for the wisdom in it.  The Owner is giving me hardship, why?  When you question why He is giving you hardship, then you find out that you are being trained under every circumstance.

Muhammad went through the same hardship, but he was never doubtful that his Owner is training him as an exemplary life.  He had confidence that I am going through hardship, but it does not mean that the message will come to an end without being completed.  It will be completed I am sure, but I am experiencing hardships now.  It is a training; the exemplary life and we need to go through hardships as well.  He trained with trustworthiness, confidence and success in completion of the message, in his life and he never acted in an extreme way, always balanced.

  • For MuhammadUnshakeable confidence in God” means confidence in the One who bestows the message to him.
  • For me, “Unshakable confidence in God” means that the Owner of the universe has employed Muhammad.
  • He was receiving the message and I am here to confirm his claim that his message that he received was from the Owner of the universe.

Muhammad must work one way i.e. to make sure what the Owner is telling him and living accordingly.  YOU AND I, WE must do something more besides checking in the message being from the Owner of the universe i.e.

  • Look at Muhammad’s behavior and the content of the message (is it true or not).

Without investigating, Muhammad submitted to the message directly because it is not from him but the Owner of the house/universe.  Muhammad did not bother about investigating the truthfulness of the message because it perfectly fit to answer his human questions in the best satisfactory way.  In the life of Muhammad, we see people imitate this behavior of submitting to the message after investigating how much the message is answering their human questions as much as they were aware of them.

For Muhammad, the content of the message was very convincing because he was asking the question and answer was given to him (according to his claim) from the Owner of the house/universe.

  • He is sure and experiencing it, why should he bother about the correctness of the content of the message?

As a human being, he may check the correctness of the message but not as a Prophet. This is the most important distinction in order to understand the attitude of the messengers towards the message they receive from God: “I have received this message and this message makes sense, therefore, I believe” (Baqara, 2: 285.)  He told something that no one knew, even he did not know.  Example: Existence of the Eternal Life and human accountability for his actions performed here on earth. I do not physically know that.  Does Muhammad know that the eternal life really exists?  “The Owner told me this, that is it”Muhammad, as well as us, must be aware that it is in the human nature that necessitates the existence of a life which needs to satisfy the human feelings as they desperately are in need of eternal satisfaction. Some people imitate this attitude of the Prophet and say: “We must be like him, whatever Allah says, we have to obey.  This is the behavior of Muhammad as a messenger, not as a human being.  He received the message from ‘not himself’ and he must have confidence in it and he is experiencing it.”  Are you experiencing it?  NO.  So, how can you have confidence in it?

  • You must question the legitimacy and acceptability of the message. Muhammad as a messenger is not obliged to do that.

He brought some strange news which was neither known to Muhamad and his contemporaries.  How people believed in those news that did not have any evidence of its truthfulness?  Because the fundamental teachings made sense i.e. Absolute truth, about the reality of existence.

Comments: The miraculous events help us make sure that it is from the Owner of the universe.  Contemporaries did not have any criteria to check the message as coming from the Owner of the universe and they could not confirm that, for example, the mountains moved through physical experience.

You do not have to believe that the mountains moved.  Movement of the mountain is not essential.  Muhammad was confident and was not hesitant that the Owner of the universe told me about the movement of the mountains.  He did not lose his confidence personally.

  • The contemporaries also did not know about the movement of the mountains, and they looked at the life of the Person Muhammad and to them fundamental matters really made sense.

“Movement of the mountains” type miracles described in the Quran are extra information and for the next generation.  When it is discovered that this news is correct, then we say that it is impossible for this man to claim this on his own.  Miraculous nature of the Quran helps us to have more confidence in the claim of Muhammad being the messenger.  He could have known this on his own at all, impossible, he must have received the message from the Owner of the universe who is supposed to know everything.

Some people take the attitude of the Prophet and the contemporaries of the Prophet and say that we must be like the Prophet and his contemporaries because they straight away confirmed what he said.  They say it is the surest way.  That does not work for me because it is not me receiving the message and saying sure that I am experiencing it.  Even Muhammad says that I do not know, and I do not bother about it, this is what I am told.  I cannot imitate the Prophet because I am not experiencing that as a messenger.  What I need to do is to have other ways of approaching this message:

  1. First, making sure that the fundamental teachings make sense to me.
  2. Second, look for evidence that has this man established a just society?

Comment: Where are you getting this evidence from that he was a trustworthy man…?

From the books of history, his biographies (sirah books) written by historians according to the testimonies of eye witnesses and the Quran mentions miraculous events that you know by now cannot be the product or idea of a man because a man is created with no capacity to know the future.  Now, we have to trust narration.  There are two main lines that we must go through:

  1. Is the messenger-ship as an institution necessary? That is what we must do.  Is it necessary that the Owner of this universe must give answers to very fundamental existential human questions?  If the universe is constant in its existence, with demonstrating that it has an Owner, Conscious, Wise Owner, Knows what He is doing and has chosen the universe to be like this as it is and if I am here questioning the wisdom in its existence and my existence, why I exist and why the universe exists, if there was a Maker of the universe, then He must give answers to my human questions.

I have a Creator by definition and He must give me answers to my questions.  There must be an answer from the Creator to my existential questions. Then we come to the conclusion that the Owner of the universe must speak and answer to human existential questions.

  • There must be answers to my human questions and how can I know? This human inquiry makes the institution of messenger-ship necessary.

Someone says: The Owner of the universe explained to me what I am asking.  Now, this is another subject that I must work on.  Answers seem to be satisfactory but how can I know whether the claim of this particular person is true and that he received answers from the Creator of the universe?

  • Necessity of Messengership needs to be established first, nothing to do with Messenger-ship of Muhammad yet.

First, you must work on whether this universe must have a Conscious Creator and then whether this Creator must speak and answer the human questions and then check in the claim by Jesus, Moses or Muhammad that “I am employed to distribute you the answer of the Creator of the universe”.  We are at this last stage.

  • While looking at the claim of a particular person to be the Messenger, we must have confidence in our conclusion without referring to the Quran and message of the Prophet that:

  1. The universe must have a Conscious Owner.
  2. The Conscious Owner must answer/reveal His purpose of creating the world and myself.
  3. I must receive the answers otherwise there would be a contradiction in the existence of this universe. The contradiction would be there must be a Creator and I have serious concerns about what will happen to me and it seems to be a very cold joke.  “Creating me and making me love existence and then seems to be executing me and killing me.  What a purposeless result?”

Is there any sign that the Creator of the universe is playing a joke and cheating us?  There must be a purpose, but we do not know what it is.  If there were no message we received through the Prophets, then we do not know what the things (universe and human life) refer to as it appears to be within the conditions of this universe.  There must be a purpose, but I do not know.  That is why I say that the Owner of the universe must reveal His purpose/intention/wisdom to me, but I do not know where it is.

Some people rise and say that the Owner of the universe has inspired to me that this is the answer of your human questions.  Let me see if this answer makes sense and that you have not made it up.  How can I make sure that you are not telling a lie?

We must look at the historical evidence because when the subject comes to studying the Prophethood/Messengership of Muhammad, because of the nature of the subject as being that of a historical man (born and died), for that, I can gather only historical evidence.

Some say, whatever the Quran says I believe and there are some miracles mentioned.  That does not work!  You have to establish the fundamental teachings of the Quran if it makes sense to you.  Investigate it, asks your questions and get satisfactory answers to it.  Look at historical evidence that Muhammad did not tell a lie because narration told me that he was very careful about not lying and the consistency in his whole life and confidence in his whole life.  “Since I am employed by the Owner of the universe, I will be taken care of by the Owner of the universe.  I trust Him!” he says.  So confident!  These all depend on historical evidence because we are talking about a historical man.

Comment: That is why personal miracles do not apply to us here and now, it only applied to the contemporaries.

That is why serious Muslim scholars say that the only miracle which concerns us is the Quran.  The other miracles we do not know, there is only narration about it.  We must have a substantial evidence demonstrating that this message has miraculous aspect as well and it must be available/accessible for me right now which is only the Quran, supported by historical narrations of other miracles as well or the miraculous explanation and disclosure in the Quran support it.

Fundamentally, I must see the miraculous aspect in the Quran first and then hear the historical narration, they must support each other.  Why the did wildest society turn into the most civilized society and not becoming tyrants? The message was based on justice, truthfulness, selflessness and that is why message spread wisely.  Can you say that Roman civilization was a right one? No, people were suffering under the administration.  When Muhammad’s disciples came to them, the majority of the people said they were right, accepted the administration.  People who accepted the message had no intention to support the empire because they were suffering.  In other words, if you are under the rule of a tyrant ruler, then you want to be free.  If someone comes in proposing freedom from tyranny, then you will support this person.  Destroying slavery and declaring human equality is fundamental in the teachings of the Prophet and the Absolute Truth as far as social life is concerned.

  • Any ideology that treat people differently or in an unjust way, human nature rejects it. Example: I am superior because my skin is white, and I belong to certain family regarded as elite to society.  This means they do not pay attention to the Creator of the universe as creating you with white skin, as a dog, a banana tree, or stone…that is His choiceHe does not give me any choice, I was made by the same Owner.

After establishing the universe cannot be sustained by itself and everything can be destroyed anytime by the Maker, then justice is the most fundamental message of the Quran, giving an end to treating lower class people, orphans, weak people as second-class citizen. Establishing justice was the main reason behind the expansion of the civilization introduced by Muhammad.  Monotheistic idea was welcomed but kings did not appreciate justice.  Example: I am the boss and you are my slave, but you can have only what I tell you to do and there is one God.  That does not work!

They say monotheistic idea is the fundamental teaching of the Quran but Justice within monotheism is.  Example: Arabs are superior, my lineage was better than yours whether they believe in the hereafter does not matter, this attitude lost the test from the beginning.  The main teachings of the message of Muhamad is based on the practical side of tawheed, it means the reflection of tawheed in one’s social practical life.  “I am a slave, but I am created by God”.  Would you agree?  No.  “I have the same qualities as anyone claiming to be a boss”.  Why should I not have the same freedom as he does?  Practical implication of Tawheed is justice.

  • Through justice, Islam spread.
  • When implementation of justice stopped, what happens?

– Expansion of Islam stops.  Historical Example: Ottoman policy (mostly “sultans” under the so-called “Muslim” administration) destroyed Islam and harmed its principles and reducing its value, as a result of which Islam could not be spread into Europe because they used force.

Example: our ancestors bequeathed us great legacy.  Everyone wants to be superior by nation, by race or something else but not God.  Quran says: “You can only be superior according to your consciousness of God”.  You are all equal to me because you are all my creatures because everything is created by me.  There is no difference between human being and a stone as far as being a creature is concerned.

  • Fundamental understanding of Muslim thinking: There is no difference between ant and Muhammad, if you esteem Muhammad because the created-ness side is equal.  They are all created by the same Creator.

As far as created-ness is concerned, everyone is equal.  Cats do not have high layer of existence than dogs.  Cats are perfect as cats.  Dogs are perfect as dogs.  Human beings are perfect as human beings and we look for value.  I am interested in my business i.e. I need to have an honorable and meaningful existence.  The Creator in the message says that you can have a valuable existence as far as the consciousness of your Creator is concerned.  Nothing to do with your shape, status in society…  Quran destroyed all this.  That was the main reason why Islam spread among people.  When this principle is ignored, and power started to be used and spread, all Ottoman armies went into Europe and came back.  What was left in Europe now was hatred of Islam:  Some Europeans say: “These people dominated our administration and are tyrant”, which is contradictory to tawheed and justice”.  Now, people realized that colonization was wrong, they were powerful and colonized the weak, but it did not give permanent solution for their ego to be satisfied because in the form of colonization, they went in there by force.  Why not use other means where people will give their worth to you?  Example: no one forces people to pay to go see a movie.  The tyrant people realized that they must convince people through other means because by force, it does not work.

  • Islam from the very beginning does not convince anyone by force.

Elite of the societies almost always reject the truth because they are people who seek their benefit always and oppose Quranic teaching.  When the truth takes over, they are finished.  They utter: “We cannot be among your follower because your followers are the lowest of the society.”  They opposed the Prophet because of that.  “I cannot sit together with my slave and eat together from the same bowl.”  That is the social problem.

  • Theoretically, tawheed is essential, immediately after tawheed “justice comes”.

In the history, because of the influence of Sultans, self-appointed caliphs, said that we cannot make speech only, instead, we have to invade their land and then teach the people.  What the Prophetic practice was, first establish justice and treat people equally and then tell them lets understand the purpose in creation, sit together and eat from the same bowl.  Eating from the same status, let us be equal.

  • First, let’s be equal (equal as in being created) and think about tawheed. I am not superior over the table or horse.  Horse is created as a horse as it is and is created to serve human beings not because I am superior to it, rather that is how it is created.

We cannot disturb the life of a plant.  Look at the sensitivity about the equal-ness of creatures.  When in “ihram” (state of pilgrimage), not only can you not kill a goat without appropriating its due right to its Owner, but also you must give respect to an ant.

The Prophet and his contemporaries believed.  We cannot imitate the Prophets as far as confirming the message is concerned as he received it.  That is, the Prophet submitted to the message without any questioning and that cannot be applied for me.  It is valid for him as a messenger, not as a human being.  You are not the messenger receiving the message and making it sure for you.  “I must question and see whether I can confirm it or not”.

  • Imitating the Prophet in his belief is cheating yourself.

Imitating the practical side and accepting him as a teacher on how to implement this message in your practical life is another matter.  Example: you must pray like this and that.  You can imitate the Prophet there BUT why do you pray?  You cannot imitate the Prophet here.

  • Prophet prays because God ordered him, and he knows that God ordered him.
  • For me, God ordered him, how can I make sure that the message is from God because I have not received the message? I must make sense of it.  We cannot imitate the messenger in belief matters as opposed to in physical practice and rituals.  In other words, the Fiqh side (jurisprudence) can be imitated but the belief side of this rituals cannot be imitated.  You must understand what you are doing and why you are doing.

“Alaa inna hizballahi humul muflihoon.” (Mujadala, 58: 22.) If you are in the “hizb of God” or “God’s party”, it means that if you believe in God and make tawwakul (trust) in God, then you will definitely be the triumphant in your human expectations.

  • Prophet believed in God, he was in the hizbullah group and was triumphant. Under very severe conditions, the Prophet never lost his confidence saying my Lord is taking care of me.

Made up Christian theology, when Jesus was crucified, he said: “O my Lord! Why did you leave me? This is an absolute insult to the message of God!  It means that he did not have confidence in God’s protection.  When a person says this, it means that he does not have confidence in God.  When people stoned the Prophet, he NEVER said “O God why did you leave me alone or forsake me?” RATHER, he said: “Please Allah, forgive them, they do not know.”  He never lost his faith/confidence.  It is against the Messengership side.

  • “In my immediate experience of life I may not see the Mercy now, but I am sure that He is Merciful. I will look for it, I will understand while I am still in this world. “
